Hi My Name is Tom Acevedo of Boston
or visit me on facebook @ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tom-Acevedos-Beguile-Studio/108161089205087
I have been a decorative painter for 20 years , painting murals of panoramic vistas or decorative finishes for others and what there vision might be for there space. Being a self taught painter, my work in the beginning was awkward at best, and painting on a large scale for murals I was able to concentrate on an over all look while detail became secondary. It was not until this past year that I was able to paint on canvas and for my self again. I love the detail , and the time I can spend on each piece , creating for myself, and conveying a message, working thru some crap.
Each painting is inspired by the one before it . I see something I would like to do more of , a particular angle or a new technique that I have found. My mural painting background had me use regular house paint, and I still use it with my canvas painting . At the moment I prefer a smooth canvas with out the tooth of the cloth. I use layers of latex paint glazes and a finish of oil glaze, with the hopes of creating a 'Plastic' three dimensional effect.
While I am working on each painting I am in the zone loving a open channel I have with something you can’t see and growth that comes along with it. I wanted to work with rich reds and umbers, in contrast with the creams and golden skin hues. Working with a single light source I enjoy the play with the light and dark , creating drama, coming out of the shadows so to speak. My love for this style of painting is inspired by the 17th century Carravaggisti’s (painters of the night) classic technique. My favorite painting is the one that I am working on at this particular time, I know it is going well if I can not take my self away from it. I look forward to seeing what will happen next on my journey and see if we can have some fun while i beat this old carpet of a mind, shake it up and get the dust out.
